Fort Polk soldier killed in traffic accident - Alexandria Town Talk

A Fort Polk soldier was killed early Sunday when hit by a vehicle while trying to walk across a highway near Lake Charles, State Police Troop D reported. The victim was identified by police as Devin Lee Olmos, 22, of San Antonio, Texas, a soldier at Fort Polk. The driver of the vehicle, Marcus Devin Pettifield, 37, of Lake Arthur, has been charged with vehicular homicide, State Police said. State Police Troop D troopers responded about 3:55 a. m. to the incident on La. Highway 385 south of Lake Charles. Pettifield was driving a 1999 Mazda pickup south on La. 385 when Olmos attempted to cross the highway in front of him, police said. Olmos was struck by the pickup truck. A toxicology sample was obtained from Olmos and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis," State Police reported. Source: www.thetowntalk.com
