Alcohol factor in fatal I80 crash - The Record-Courier
The Nevada Highway Patrol said the accident occurred at 3:15 a. m. and involved a red 1990 Mazda pickup and a green 1998 Mazda Protégé. The pickup was driving the wrong way in the eastbound lanes of the freeway. The pickup’s driver and a woman riding in the Mazda were pronounced dead at the scene. The Mazda’s driver and the pickup’s passenger were taken to Renown Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Interstate 80 eastbound was shut down for several hours while the NHP investigated the crash scene. Trooper Karen Garretson of the Nevada Highway Patrol’s Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team is investigating this incident.
