Miata Car Rally for charity cruises through Newmarket - YorkRegion.com

Car enthusiasts rallied around Lake Simcoe in support of charities Saturday. Newmarket residents might have noticed a brigade of Mazda Miatas on the streets as the cars' owners participated in the Miata Car Rally for Kids, benefiting Easter Seals and Shriners Children's Hospital. The drivers, who made a minimum donation of $200 to participate, began in Orillia in the morning and made their way around Lake Simcoe and south to New Roads Mazda on Mulock Drive for lunch. "It's fun to see people smile when a line of Miatas goes by and to drive with a group of people supporting a good cause. "I just wanted the chance to drive my car and helping out a good cause is a bonus," he said. The event was organized by Mazda and Jackson Events to coincide with the launch of the new 2016 MX5. "It is a day of fun, driving and meeting new people," Tim Sample from Jackson Events said. The cars and drivers headed to the Barrie Mazda dealership later in the day to enjoy a barbecue dinner, live entertainment and dancing. Source: www.yorkregion.com
