Baltazar-Garcia’s 2007 Mazda 6 broke traction and swerved into the passing lane before careening into the median where it slid sideways for “hundreds of feet” and then violently rolled, probably twice, Colling said. Witnesses reported the vehicle to be at a vertical angle at one point, Colling said. The oldest of the children, a girl, 8, was seated in the middle, with a girl, 3, in the rear left seat and a boy, 1, in the right seat. All three children were properly restrained in child seats, Colling said. Only the 8-year-old sustained any injuries, which Colling said was a bloody nose.
