Blowing in the Wind: CG man repurposes old items into chimes, art, laughs - TriValley Central

With Myers, 74, little goes to waste. And, in Myers’ yard, art from found objects is everywhere. Myers can cut and weld and wire together just about anything that catches his fancy. Oh, he fancies wind chimes. At the big end is a 15-foot metal post. Myers welded a T-beam onto the top of the post. Just getting the post in place involved a tractor, a winch and a pulley system. Out front, a cast iron eagle is perched atop what appears to be a ledge on a large outcropping of rock. Then — with his winch and pulley system — he lowered it onto a solid steel frame. And around that, he created an artificial rock of wire mesh and a blend of papier-mache and concrete. All told, the eagle project took two months. It looks rock solid. Early in his career, he took and taught welding at Central Arizona College. In 1974, he won a national award for a welding-design project. He began in earnest to design and build his wind chimes and yard sculptures. Source: www.trivalleycentral.com
