Vineville Avenue reopens to traffic - Macon Telegraph (blog)

update: Vineville Avenue is reopened for traffic, according to Lt. Randy Gonzalez of the Bibb County Sheriff's Office. An accident that broke two utility poles has closed Vineville Avenue to traffic as Georgia Power makes repairs. Detours are underway from Speer Avenue to Pio Nono and will likely be in place the remainder of the morning, possibly into the afternoon, according to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office. Shortly after 7:30 a. m. , a driver lost control of his 2003 Acura MDX sport utility vehicle when a tire blew out in the 2900 block of Vineville Avenue. The Acura, driven by Celia Asinor, 20, of Lithia Springs, struck a 1996 Mazda B2300 pickup, driven by Donnie Hazelrigs, 42, of Franklin, and then crashed into two utility poles, according to a news release from the sheriff's office. The broken poles, which were in danger of falling into the road, caused a power outage in the area of Vineville Avenue from Kenmore Place to Pio Nono Avenue. Bibb deputies originally asked Macon-Bibb public works crews to place orange barrels in the "suicide lane" to block traffic until repairs can be made. Source: www.macon.com
