Suspect chased after pickpocketing at Coral Gables gas station - 7Online WSVN-TV

(WSVN) -- A suspected pickpocket made a dramatic getaway after targeting a customer at a Coral Gables gas station. Two subjects were caught on camera scheming to pickpocket a man at the Shell gas station located at 1429 South Dixie Highway just before 10 p. m. on Wednesday. One subject waited in the getaway vehicle while the other stole the wallet from the rear pants pocket of the victim. Officials said the subject was so caught off guard, he jumped on top of the getaway vehicle and rode away on the hood. "This is like Dukes of Hazzard," said Coral Gables Police Officer Lauren Poole. I think the subjects in this case were shocked at the fact that the victim actually made chase after him. He also said the subject stayed on the hood for several hundred feet. "That's what he did, on the hood of the car, and then the car took off with him, on top of the hood of the car," he said. Police are describing the getaway vehicle as a 1991-1995 green Mazda 929 that has extensive rust and paint damage all over the frame of the car. "There is severe oxidation of the paint, not only on the hood, the roof as well as the trunk," said Poole. "So anyone who sees the picture of this video has to recognize this vehicle if you see it. ". Though the victim admitted that his Louis Vuitton wallet may be expensive, it his information that is what is important to him. Source: www.wsvn.com
