Slidell robbery suspect caught after ramming cop car in chase - NOLA.com

A man accused of robbing Dollar General stores in Slidell over the weekend was finally caught when his car was pinned between two cop cars following a brief chase, Slidell police said. Police said Franck's alleged crime spree began on Saturday (April 4) when, around 4:30 p. m. , he is accused of hitting a Dollar General on 3818 Pontchartrain Drive. The clerk complied, and the robber fled the scene in a dark colored Mazda. On Sunday afternoon (April 5), around 3:30 p. m. , Slidell police got a call that another Dollar General had been held up. In this store, on 400 Gause Blvd. Officers were on the lookout then for a dark colored Mazda, and soon Officer Brad Hoopes spotted a 2002 black Mazda 626, driven by Franck, turning onto Fremaux Avenue from Front Street, police said. After a brief vehicle pursuit, Franck rammed the front of a police car on Seventh Street and put the vehicle in reverse in an attempt to flee again, but Hoopes was directly behind Franck. Franck struck Hoopes' police vehicle, which pinned him between two police vehicles.
