The new Skyactiv technology, where engineers have rethought almost everything — from engine timing and compression ratios to the shape of trailing arms in the rear suspension, along with every other piece of the car — saves weight. Less weight not only saves fuel, it also improves the car’s performance: less rotational weight means more of the engine’s power goes into propulsion, less unsprung weight improves ride and handling and less overall weight helps the car hold...
