MAXI NEW MINI: Four-door hardtop adds space, but maintains fun quotient - Albuquerque Journal

The Mini Cooper, in all its many guises available these days, is not exactly all that mini any more. By way of putting it in perspective, our tester this week – a 2015 Mini Cooper S Hardtop 4-door – is nearly 20 inches longer than the truly tiny Fiat 500, although about the same overall length as a Honda Fit. So let’s just call the Mini a near-compact. Families will welcome the extended Mini, new for 2015. Its additional length over the traditional two-door version provides enough extra room in the rear seat for two normal-sized adults (or three kids), providing the front-seat occupants are... And the rear doors definitely make that newfound space more accessible than in the two-door model. Thankfully, the Mini’s much-lauded go-kart flingability remains intact for the most part. Abetted by razor-sharp steering, the car carves through curves with smile-inducing sports-car verve. Marketed as a “premium” small vehicle, the Mini has upgraded its interior fittings over earlier versions, with better materials and higher-grade hardware. Source: www.abqjournal.com
