Tragic PC Russ Wylie helps five people by donating organs - Hull Daily Mail

A police motorcyclist who died following a crash has helped five people after donating his organs. PC Russ Wylie, 28, was killed following the crash in Hedon Road, near Burstwick, at 11. 30am on Monday, April 14. He was taken by air ambulance to Hull Royal Infirmary but died the next day having never regained consciousness. During an inquest in Hull yesterday it was revealed PC Wylie's family agreed to have his organs removed for donation shortly after he died. Inspector Mark Hughes, of Humberside Police's road traffic department, said: "Five people benefited from the organs Russ donated. "This was typical of Russ being able to still help others after his death. One of those who helped at the scene was student paramedic Matthew Oliver who had been playing golf at nearby Burstwick Country Golf Club. He told the inquest: "We had just finished the fourth hole when I heard a loud crash and saw a figure fly through the air. "With the help of his colleague I carefully removed his helmet to help check his breathing. PC Wylie was riding with his colleague and friend Sergeant John Rickells towards the coast for a coffee when the accident happened on the B1362. Sgt Rickells said: "I have worked with Russ since 2007 and we became good friends. Source: www.hulldailymail.co.uk
