Two Fires Minutes Apart Under Investigation - wnep.com

NANTICOKE– Firefighters in Luzerne County battled two fires on the same street and within minutes of each other. Just after 2 a. m. Friday, firefighters in Nanticoke responded to a car on fire on West Broad Street. “We woke up, looked out the window, and the car was completely engulfed in flames,” said Deborah Ankudovich. The car that was on fire was Ankudovich’s 1991 Nissan Sentra, a car she used every penny she saved to buy, six months ago. And the only thing I owned was my little clunkers car,” said Ankudovich. Deborah believes someone set her car on fire because when she first saw the flames she noticed someone had opened the driver’s door. Firefighters on the scene agree that the fire looked suspicious. I take care of my family and I don’t know why anybody would do this to me,” Ankudovich added. People who live on West Broad Street said just a few minutes after firefighters started putting out the fire in the car, another fire started in the back of a home just a few feet away. Franco is a contractor and investor for the home that caught on fire. So to have this happen, you know it’s a big hit,” Franco added. While some think the two fires seem suspicious a state police fire marshal is still. Source: wnep.com
