STATEN ISLAND, N. Y. — A Grasmere mother is accused of driving drunk on the West Shore Expressway with her four young children in the car, according to a law enforcement source. Andrea Perau, 42, of the 400 block of Mosel Avenue, was behind the wheel of her 2006 Nissan Altima, when she was pulled over on the expressway near Victory Boulevard, at 7 p. m. on Thursday, police said. Perau had a strong odor of alcohol on her breath, a flushed face, watery and bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and swaying balance, according to the criminal complaint filed against her. She was driving her four children and was pulled over after cops spotted her riding on the rim and nearly swiping a patrol car, a source with knowledge of the investigation told the Advance. The four children in her car were ages 10, 8, 7 and 1, the complaint states. Perau is charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated. Source: www.silive.com
