Greer man killed in single-vehicle crash Wednesday night - Spartanburg Herald Journal

Charles Walter Cothren, 23, of Chapel Road was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a statement from Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger. The crash occurred east of Greer about 9:30 p. m. Cothren's 2003 Nissan Maxima was traveling east on Victor Hill Road when he veered off the right side of the road, struck a ditch, overturned and struck a tree, said Lance Cpl. Cothren's cause of death was “a direct result from the collision with head and body trauma,” Clevenger said in the statement. A passenger, who also was wearing a seat belt, was transported by ambulance to Spartanburg Medical Center for treatment.
