A New Bedford man and his Taunton girlfriend were charged with child endangerment after police said they got high on heroin Friday night and drove around with their 2-year-old son in an unregistered and uninsured car. Taunton Daily Gazette says both Jeffrey R. Silva, 30, last known address of 23 Homer St. , New Bedford, and Lynette Marie Slocomb, 27, 25 Blinns Court, Taunton, were charged with reckless endangerment of a child. Police said when they responded to a medical-assist call at 8:20 p. m. for an unresponsive male in a car, they found Silva laid out on the front steps of the Star Food Mart at 93 Plain St. Silva allegedly showed signs of angonal breathing, such as... Police said the fact that firefighters and ambulance personnel managed to revive him with nasal Narcan suggests that Silva had been overdosing on an opiate, such as heroin. Police said their suspicion was confirmed by Slocomb, who they said told them he had ingested heroin. Cops said while speaking to Slocomb, they noticed her pupils had gone “pin-point” and that she couldn’t comprehend and answer basic questions or speak in coherent sentences.
