2016 Volvo XC90, Nissan Maxima Recalled for Airbag Defects, Fuel Leaks - Car and Driver (blog)

To that point: The all-new 2016 Volvo XC90 and 2016 Nissan Maxima , only months in production, have been recalled for two fairly serious problems, one related to faulty airbags and the other to fuel leaks. The interior trim on the D-pillars can block the airbag during a crash, a problem Volvo discovered in July during a Euro NCAP crash test. Early this month, Volvo stopped XC90 deliveries on models with third row seating and has completed repairs on a number of cars, some of which have been halted at the factory. On 5458 Maxima models, the fuel tank has an O-ring that may not be properly sealed and can cause a leak during a crash where the fuel filler pipe meets the tank. Nissan currently has a stop-sale on all 2016 Maximas built from March 19th (the start of production) to June 2nd. The company said repairs won’t begin until late September and that it was investigating other Nissan models for this potential problem.
