Englewood man accused of dismembering fiancée's mom appears in court - The Denver Post
CENTENNIAL — A man accused of killing his fiancée's mother and dumping her body in Clear Creek County after cutting off her head and hands appeared briefly in Arapahoe County court Thursday morning. John Brant, 32, is accused of second-degree murder in the strangling of 55-year-old Jacqueline Degarmo. this is not something that, like, I ever thought in my life would happen," Brant told investigators, according to an arrest affidavit. Police believe Brant killed Degarmo on Feb. Degarmo's body was found in a tarp in the area of Mine and Crest roads in the mountain county west of Denver. Authorities reported that Degarmo's head and hands were removed after her death, according to an autopsy report. Brant was arrested after last week the Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office issued a bulletin with a photo of a tattoo from the then-unidentified body of Degarmo. Alisia Blythe, Brant's fiancée, told investigators that Brant strangled her mother after Degarmo swung a stick at the soon-to-be married couple. A spokesman for the department said the investigation into Degarmo's death, however, is very much ongoing. Police are asking the public's help in finding Degarmo's car, a 1997 Nissan 200SX, metallic blue in color, with Colorado license plate 632LHE. Source: www.denverpost.com
