2014 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid - Car and Driver
When Nissan first outlined its next-generation, in-house hybrid system nearly two years ago, it promised that the setup would arrive sometime in 2013 to supplant a V-6 in a new hybrid vehicle. We had predicted that the company was talking about the inevitable hybrid version of the latest Altima sedan , but Nissan’s first recipient of its new hybrid powertrain is, in fact, the new Pathfinder crossover. The 2014 Pathfinder hybrid enters a pretty empty space in the market—that of the non-luxury three-row hybrid crossover—currently occupied solely by the Toyota Highlander hybrid. The only other three-row crossover available with a hybrid version is the Pathfinder’s more-luxurious sibling, the upcoming Infiniti QX60 hybrid , which is also making its debut at the 2013 New York auto show. (Recall that GM’s three-row Tahoe, Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade hybrids are truck-based, therefore not crossovers, and are probably not being resurrected when GM’s next-generation full-size SUVs arrive in the next year or so. ). Finding Paths,... Nissan didn’t skimp on the hybrid goods with the Pathfinder. The system consists of a supercharged 2. 5-liter four-cylinder engine, an electric motor, Nissan’s Xtronic CVT, and a lithium-ion battery pack. Source: www.caranddriver.com
