To a father of young siblings who share a car, the case of Ricky and Jordan Taylor is an intriguing one. "I don't know why we don't have those," said Ricky, the elder brother at 26. "We didn't have many friends outside our family, so we were our best friends, we weren't trying to beat each other. Driving for their father's team in the inaugural IMSA Tudor United SportsCar Championship season last year, they won twice and finished second in the DP championship. Over lunch this week, the two discussed their racing aspirations, their relationship, the extended family that is their teams and Sunday's race, taking turns filling any void in the conversation and occasionally finishing each other's thoughts. Ricky and Jordan were born to race, the sons of South African sports-car driver Wayne Taylor , a regular on the old IMSA Camel GT circuit and a champion and Daytona 24 Hours winner in Grand-Am.
