For starters, it's an evolution of the twice-as-expensive SLS AMG supercar, which was considered the spiritual heir of the classic 300 SL "Gullwing. " That first example was forged in the spirit of competition, to race and win at everything from Grand Prix circuits, along with the era's most grueling long-distance road races. Back in the early to mid-1950s, the 300 SL couldn't be beat, no matter if it was racing to a checkerd flag, or rolling along Park Avenue. But the AMG GT undoubtedly brings an extra measure of glamour and mystique to the segment.
