Porsche Eight for the Road.
After the 924, Porsche drops the second show of its 1980s model program with the water-cooled, front-engined, 8-cylinder 928. It may be the best Porsche yet.
In summary... With the arrival of the 928, the Porsche range takes on a completely new look. Said Dr. Ernst Fuhrmann, the head of Porsche, "For the first time our firm can offer a range of models in which the proven 911 is supplemented by the 928, above,and the smaller 924 below." It is the new concept, that of the front engine and rear transaxle, that will eventually rule. The 911 has been a magnificient car, one of the greatest in all auto history. But in the 928 it has met its match.
