Pod Rods: Some Pebble Beach reveals, some supercars not coming to the U.S ... - Florida Times-Union
This weekend’s Pod Rods has a lot of news from the other side of the country – new concepts introduced at Pebble Beach as its concours and other associated events get underway. Let’s rumble with Pod Rods, as well as Jacksonville’s longest-running car events calendar:. A titanium supercar named the Icona Vulcano will be unveiled at this weekend’s Pebble Beach Concours events. With unpainted titanium panels, a carbon fiber tub and a V-12/900-hp engine, the car is the work of Claudio Lombardi, former powertrain technical director of Ferrari. The Vulcano is an evolution of the body form language first introduced in 2011 on the Icona Fuselage concept by design director Samuel Chuffart. Got to love that classic blue race car transporter from the 1950s. The first production example of the VUHL 05 supercar was delivered to a Mexican enthusiast. The car, with full carbon bodywork, it is the first of several VUHLs destined for the Mexican roads this year. The VUHL 05 weighs just 695 kg, with a mid-mounted 2-liter turbocharged 285-hp Ford EcoBoost engine, which lets it hit 60 mph in 3. 5 seconds and top out at 150 mph. BMW has a new car that pays homage to the racing success of a race car that was shown at this year’s Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance – 1975’s BMW 3. 0 CSL. Source: jacksonville.com
