15 gathering at Freshfields Village of collectors and their cars, including a few ultra-luxury ones, gave enthusiasts a glimpse of the pedigrees expected for a big time auto festival and swanky “concours d’elegance” next spring at Kiawah Island. Not coincidentally, co-chairmen of the 2016 event were present at the periodic Sea Islands Cars and Coffee get-together, which takes place at the upscale shopping center outside the gated entrances to Seabrook and Kiawah islands. Bruce Stemerman and John Wilson originated Sea Islands Cars and Coffee, which typically attracts 50 or so cars for a trophy-less two hour cruise-in every third Saturday of the month. The somewhat informal event, featuring cars parked along a cordoned off block around a grassy park, tends to showcase at least a few high-brow vehicles. According to Wilson and Stemerman, organizers are making progress with the Kiawah Island Motoring Retreat, to be held April 15-17 at the island’s Ocean Park and culminating in its Concours d’Elegance of super pristine vintage cars competing in a... “We’re expecting 5,000 people and 150 cars,” said Wilson, the motoring retreat’s chairman with Stemerman. According to the motoring retreat group, Martin co-hosts the show “What’s My Car Worth.
