Lexus Refreshes LX SUV, GS Sedan - Ward's Auto

’s Lexus luxury division uses this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance, a showcase for classic cars, to unveil two refreshed ’16 production vehicles, the LX SUV and GS sedan, both going on sale this fall. The last all-new LX, an 8-passenger flagship for the brand, arrived in 2008 and was refreshed three years ago. The GS was all-new in spring 2012 as a ’13 model, and it won a 2013 Ward’s 10 Best Interiors trophy for the GS 450h hybrid with its bamboo-inspired wood trim. “The Concours weekend presents an absolutely ideal setting for us to be able to introduce to you and the rest of the world a couple of our brand-new products,” Brian Smith, Lexus vice president-marketing, tells journalists in debuting the LX and... Many of the LX specs carry over from the previous model, including wheelbase (112. 2 ins. [2,850 mm]), total interior volume (158. 9 cu. -ft. [4. 5 cu. -m]) and curb weight (6,000 lbs. The engine is shared with the Tundra fullsize pickup and Sequoia fullsize SUV, which also are body-on-frame vehicles, like the LX. However, the LX shares its architecture with the Land Cruiser SUV, not the Tundra and Sequoia.
