Boulder Creek man, 19, arrested after head-on collision Monday - Santa Cruz Sentinel
BEN LOMOND >> A 19-year-old Boulder Creek teen was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after a Ford Mustang he was driving collided head-on with a pickup on Highway 9 Monday night, California Highway Patrol officials said. About 9:48 p. m. , CHP received a call about a high-speed collision between the two vehicles on Highway 9 near Mills Street, in the heart of Ben Lomond, officer Trista Sharp said. The 1994 green Mustang, driven by Daniel Knecht, crossed the double yellow line and collided with a 2011 Toyota Tacoma driven by a San Francisco man, Sharp said. After the collision, Knecht walked from the scene and into a nearby inn where CHP officers found him soon after, Sharp said. Witnesses who reported the collision told dispatchers Knecht was driving at speeds of 90 mph before the collision, Sharp said. Sharp said she did not think the vehicle reached that speed.
