New 2015 Toyota Fortuner launched - Bangkok Post

Hey, it doesn’t look like a tarted up Revo . . . That’s because Toyota is trying to create more distance between the all-new Fortuner SUV and its Hilux Revo pickup when actually the two do share many bits. Speaking at the world premiere of the Fortuner in Bangkok this morning, company executives want to give Toyota’s latest offering “a more genuine SUV feel” rather than what so many people like to associate as PPV, a legal acronym standing for... Note the design cues of the Fortuner which are notably more different than those of the Revo and come closer in line with some of Lexus’ and Toyota’s SUVs sold elsewhere around the world. Although the Fortuner sits on the same 2,750mm wheelbase length as before, it is 90mm longer in overall length, 15mm wider but 15mm lower in height. The Fortuner comes with two diesel engines including the 150hp 2. 4-litre and 177hp 2. 8-litre from the newly established GD family. The diesel units replace the 144hp 2. 5-litre and 171hp 3. 0-litre of the KD family, while the petrol counterpart is an improved version of the outgoing 160hp block. The new Fortuner car now be selected to drive just the rear wheels to help save fuel, apart from being able to operate all four running wheels when all-weather traction is required. Toyota is also offering rear-wheel-drive only for those who don’t need 4x4 ability. Source: www.bangkokpost.com
