Toyota unleashes another Hilux 'Dakar' - iAfrica.com
Toyota South Africa has launched another special edition Hilux to celebrate the bakkie's success in the 2015 Dakar Rally. Giniel de Villiers took second place at the 2015 edition of the gruelling rally in his Toyota Imperial Hilux. The commemorate this result, the special edition Toyota Hilux Dakar builds on the Legend 45 package, boasting additional aesthetic and cabin enhancements. Toyota says that the Dakar treatment is applied to all Legend 45 models, with 50 percent of Legend production converted to Dakar models (for a production period of three months). "[The Toyota Hilux Dakar] is inspired by the extreme performance of the world's most gruelling motorsport event where toughness is not just a pay-off line, it's a prerequisite," said Glenn Crompton, vice president of marketing. Hilux Dakar delivers the best of both worlds," added Crompton. The Dakar is set apart from the Legend 45 by its stainless-steel front nudge bar (with a black cross bar and "Dakar" decal). The Toyota Hilux Dakar is available exclusively in Glacier White or Chromium Silver, and comes with a black interior leather with red stitching.
