Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), the parties reiterated their conviction that there can be no alternative to peace in Libya outside the U. N. dialogue process. On August 14 , Reuters reported around 37 people have been killed in clashes between Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) fighters and a Salafist Muslim group battling for control of Sirte. On August 15 , UNSMIL condemned attacks on Sirte by ISIL militants and urged Libyans to agree to a unity government that can address the country’s challenges and confront terrorism. UNSMIL noted Libyan calls for swift action to save Sirte and urged Libyan stakeholders to finalize a political agreement and establish a Government of National Accord.
