2003-2004 Subaru Legacy, Outback, Baja, 2004 Subaru Impreza Recalled For ... - Washington Post

More than ten million vehicles around the globe have been recalled due to faulty airbags made by Takata . Today, Subaru is adding about 9,000 more to the list. According to a bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Subaru's recall affects 2003-2004 models of the Baja, Legacy, and Outback, as well as some 2004 Impreza vehicles, including the WRX/STI. The recall includes only those vehicles that came equipped with front passenger airbag inflators made by Takata (or presumably, vehicles that had airbags replaced with Takata models, since that's been a problem elsewhere). As with the other Takata-related recalls, the problem on the aforementioned Subarus stems from the propellant used to inflate the airbags. Subaru hasn't yet announced when it will begin sending out recall notices, but when that happens, owners will be able to take their vehicles to Subaru dealers, who will replace the airbag inflators free of charge. If you believe you own one of the affected vehicles and have further questions, we encourage you to call Subaru at 800-782-2783. Or, if you prefer, you can contact NHTSA at 888-327-4236 and ask about recall campaign #14V399000.... Source: www.washingtonpost.com
