Man flown to hospital after crash - Standard Speaker

One man was extricated from a vehicle and flown to a regional trauma center following a two-vehicle crash in Butler Township on Wednesday afternoon, police said. Police said a man who was driving a green Subaru that was headed east on Butler Drive near Freedom Road turned into the path of an eastbound Ford pickup truck around 5:30 p. m. The crash prompted emergency personnel to shut down part of Butler Drive. Emergency responders cut off the Subaru’s roof to remove the driver. He was taken to the parking lot of a nearby fire company and flown to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, police said. The man who was driving the pickup truck was not injured, police said. Firefighters from the Freeland and Valley Regional departments responded, along with the Sugarloaf and Freeland Northside Community ambulances. Part of the road was closed for at least an hour as emergency responders worked to clear wreckage from the roadway.
