Titans hoping Brian Orakpo a difference-maker - The Tennessean

TITANS TRAINING CAMP PREVIEW. The Titans begin training camp July 31 at Saint Thomas Sports Park. The big free-agent addition was the 6-4, 257-pound Orakpo, who comes to the Titans with a resume of three Pro Bowls and 40 career sacks. The Titans also re-signed Morgan, a three-down outside linebacker who’s recorded at least six sacks in each of the past three seasons. But the Titans are excited about the potential of free-agent pick-up Jonathan Massaquoi, as well as rookies like Mount, Tavai and Cudjoe-Virgil. In signing Orakpo to a four-year deal worth approximately $32 million, the Titans are hoping he can be the difference-maker they’ve lacked at outside linebacker in recent years — a player who can consistently pressure the passer and help stop the... But pectoral injuries have sidelined Orakpo for the majority of two of the last three seasons, including last year, when he was limited to seven games. The Titans were cautious in their use of Orakpo during offseason workouts, but he’s expected to be 100 percent for training camp. The Titans like the potential of Massaquoi, a 6-2, 264-pounder who was a fifth-round pick of the Falcons in 2012. He played 39 games for the Falcons — starting seven — and posted 65 tackles and six sacks. Source: www.tennessean.com
