Southwest Va. crash claims 2 - Kingsport Times News
ABINGDON -- Two people were killed in an early morning crash in Washington County on Thursday. The Virginia State Police reports the two vehicle crash occurred at around 5:45 a. m. Thursday on U. S. Route 19 approximately one mile north of Rich Valley Road. The VSP said a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling south in the northbound lanes of Rt. 19 when it struck head on a northbound 2000 Pontiac Grand Am. The driver of the Silverado, Dannie M. Taylor, 74, of Cleveland, Va. , died at the scene. The driver of the Grand Am, 47-year old Robert W. Crabtree of Meadowview, died en route to the Bristol Regional Medical Center. The VSP asks anyone who may have seen the 1999 Chevy Silverado traveling on Rt. 19 prior to the crash, and/or witnessed the crash, to call the VSP at 276-228-3131. Source: www.timesnews.net
