Mendoza sentenced to seven years prison - Odessa American

Officers responded to the call sometime after 7 a. m. that morning when a man reported he had been robbed at gunpoint by three men and was tied up in his apartment in the 4300 block of Wendover Avenue. After the first report of a robbery, police responded to a report of shots fired during an armed burglary at an apartment in the 4300 block of Edmond Drive. As officers investigated that report, another call was made that two men had been robbed at gunpoint. Officers were then called to the 4000 block of Southbrook Drive at 8:08 a. m. where the caller told dispatch the suspect was in the alley behind the 5400 block of New Orleans Drive. In the moments before the arrest, a resident who lived on New Orleans Drive was talking to his neighbor, a man who lived in the 4000 block of Southbrook Drive when Mendoza walked toward the men holding a shotgun, pointed it at them, and demanded... The men got on the ground and gave Mendoza their money, though police reported only one of the men handed over keys to a Nissan Titan. After detaining Mendoza, officers saw items from the victim’s work vehicle nearby as well as items reported stolen during other burglaries.
