Mayor Sam Childs told The Times in a previous interview that half the candidates were from the Middle Tennessee area while others were from out of state, but upon review of the resumes, it was unclear which candidates were not local. Dennis is a current Tennessee State University Police officer and a former Coopertown Police chief, his resume said. He has been serving at the university since 2006, served as chief of Coopertown’s Police Department from April 2003 until November of 2004 and has worked in law enforcement previously in Florida, the resume notes.
