'Mature' Nissan Titan deserves a look - Chron.com
The Titan, Nissan 's venture into the U. S. full-size pickup market, arrived in showrooms very late in 2003. While General Motors , Chrysler and Ford pickups have gone through at least two generations and several refreshes in those dozen years,... For a variety of reasons - global economic meltdown, failed corporate marriages - the Titan didn't get around to being updated and is a bit of a throwback. But that's far from a bad thing, as we discovered recently when we tested a 2014 Titan PRO-4X crew cab. Nissan's big pickup is an honest, back-to-basics truck that's satisfying and comfortable to climb in to, drive and use. The Titan's 5. 6-liter V8 may not boast the "class-leading" horsepower or torque of its competitors' current direct-injection and turbocharged engines, but we guarantee you - 317 hp and 385 lb-ft of torque mean plenty of smiles per mile. In fact, if you don't use your right foot judiciously, you'll light up the rear tires and attract unintended attention. The Titan has a nice slot for writing instruments (or a pencil-type tire gauge). By today's pickup-truck standards, configuring a Titan is pretty simple. No need to worry about what's under the hood because there is only one engine and transmission: a 5. 6-liter V8 and five-speed automatic transmission. Source: www.chron.com
