Pickup driver critical after Klawock head-on crash with semi - KTUU.com
A critically injured Thorne Bay man has been flown to Seattle for medical care, after a Saturday head-on collision near the Southeast Alaska community of Klawock between his pickup and a semi truck. The crash that injured 18-year-old John Botello took place at Mile 9 of Boundary Road, with troopers saying in a Monday dispatch that they responded at about 5:15 a. m. Saturday. “Investigation revealed (Botello) was operating a 1993 Nissan pickup southbound on Boundary Road when for unknown reasons, (he) crossed the centerline and drove into the northbound lane,” troopers wrote. “Timothy Burns, age 63, of Klawock was operating a 1996 Kenworth logging truck northbound on Boundary Road and was struck nearly head-on. Troopers said Botello, who wasn’t wearing a seat belt in the crash, was taken to Seattle where he is currently listed in critical condition. Source: www.ktuu.com
