Warriors' James Michael McAdoo is a Summer League standout - SFGate
LAS VEGAS — Steve Kerr settled gingerly into a chair along the baseline to watch James Michael McAdoo , the best player on the floor, and the rest of his Summer League team against the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday night. The damage is in the lower back, and “I don’t think he even knows how it happened,” a team spokesman said. So there you have it — the Warriors’ first significant injury of the Steve Kerr era, and it’s the man himself. Not that Kerr had any intention of resting at his Las Vegas hotel. There are points to be made on the Thomas & Mack Center court, reputations to rise and fall, and as everyone knows, there’s a spot on the Warriors’ bench just waiting to be filled. McAdoo would like to believe he’s that man. Nothing would be more satisfying to Kerr or general manager Bob Myers , who know that continuity in a successful franchise depends on youth. McAdoo is gliding through Summer League play as a cut-above talent. He drew some excited shouts from the crowd Sunday night when he got the ball on the left baseline, faked to his right, then sank a sweet left-handed jump-hook over Atlanta’s 6-foot-9 Brandon Ashley. McAdoo finished with a game-high 17 points and made his only three-point attempt. Source: www.sfgate.com
