Mitsubishi apologizes to WWII POW in Wellsburg - WTOV Steubenville

Representatives with Mitsubishi Material told PFC Eddie Jackfert they were sorry. "They made us work there and manufacture war goods and they were used against our on troops from the far east to rescue us,” Jackfert said. Jackfert says more than 11,000 POWs died while in Japanese camps, and he also says it's about time someone apologized, stating the Japanese government never did. Mitsubishi Materials also gave a $50,000 donation to the American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor Museum in Brooke County. Jackfert helped start the museum and he’s hoping the money will help preserve the memories and teach others. On Sunday, Mitsubishi representatives apologized also to 94-year-old James Murphy in Santa Maria, Calif.
