Mazda Australia recalls 80000 cars with Takata airbags - CarAdvice
The Mazda announcement is just the latest in a long line of Takata airbag recalls from a long list of different Japanese, North American and European brands. No excuse as Mazda should have been proactive as this is a potentially lethal issue. Mazda has dragged the chain before…. diesel engine issues in Mazda CX-5 took ages for them to agree there was an issue and then quickly find a fix. Good on you Mazda Australia in finally recognising that the Drivers Air Bag IS an issue for Right Hand Drive Mazda’s in the same VIN range as the passenger ones you recalled exactly a year ago. BTW, TAKATA has reported (in USA) that the Recalled units done a year ago are also defective, so there will be a recall of a recall…TAKATA are removing the ammonia nitrate compound from these new inflators and are building a brand new production... I would imagine the auto manufacturers have given private assurances of continuing to buy from them, in order for Takata to get the cash it needs to grow its facilities and production for the recall replacements, otherwise they would never get the...
