Mazdas in airbag recall, now affecting 700000 cars - Northern Star
In three separate recalls announced, the first models affected were sold in Australia between August 22 2002 and November 19 2007 :. Mazda6 Sedan, Mazda6 wagon/hatch, RX-8 coupe, E-Series (SK) van, T-Series (SY) cab chassis, B2500 (UN) and B2600... The second recall covers the Mazda6 sedan/hatch and wagons sold between April 28 2006 and March 30 2009, while the third covers the Mazda6 sedan/hatch and wagons on sale between July 29 2005 and November 19 2007. . Some dates overlap due to cars... The number of Mazdas caught up in these three recalls alone is just shy of 80,000, bringing the total number of Australian cars affected by faulty Takata airbag inflators to approximately 700,000. . The problem comes from the ruptured inflator... Mazda Australia has said it will contact all affected customers by mail as soon as parts become available, when their preferred Mazda Dealer will replace faulty airbag inflators at no charge.
