The Takata airbag scandal continues to deepen with Mazda and Nissan issuing recall notices on Wednesday, taking the total number of vehicles affected in Australia beyond 800,000. Similar to the other recalls already issued which involve cars built earlier than previously reported with airbags that could potentially deploy shrapnel in the event of an accident, Mazda has extended its previous notice to now include Mazda6... The total number of vehicles affected from the Japanese brand in this latest round is approximately 79,000, although Mazda cautions that because of the age of vehicles that the number of cars currently on the road may be slightly less. The total number of Nissan vehicles involved is approximately 115,000.
