Mazda North American Operations is recalling 46,404 model year 2003-2006 Mazda6, and model year 2004-2005 RX-8, MPV, and B-series vehicles originally sold, or ever registered, in geographic locations associated with high absolute humidity. This includes vehicles sold, or ever registered, in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, Puerto Rico, Saipan and Guam. Upon deployment of the passenger side frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture, with metal fragments striking and potentially seriously injuring the vehicle occupants. Mazda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front passenger air bag inflators, free of charge. Owners may contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500. Mazda's number for this recall is 8114L. The information on this Web site is general in nature and is not intended as a substitute for competent legal advice. Source: www.consumeraffairs.com
