LANSING | The man most moviegoers know as Forrest Gump’s Lt. Dan will be in Lansing on Sunday at its veterans memorial. Actor Gary Sinise will present a donation toward the Lansing Veterans Memorial’s restoration at its Salute to Vietnam Veterans. Dan Band is scheduled to perform at its annual Lt. Dan Band concert on Saturday in Wheaton, Ill. The Lansing Veterans Memorial is near the corner of Glenwood-Lansing Road and Burnham Avenue across the parking lot from the Ford Hangar at the Lansing Municipal Airport. Part of the memorial includes a mounted Huey helicopter and a wall with 145 names of servicemen and women, mostly from Chicago and the Southland who died in battle from the Civil War to the first Gulf War in 1991, according to the organization’s...
