Jeepspeed Racers Battle a Tough Course at The General Tire Mint 400 - Side x Side News

Las Vegas, NV – Jeepspeed racers lined up for another intense battle at The General Tire Mint 400, presented by Poloris outside Las Vegas, Nevada. The Mint 400 is legendary for the tough, rocky course they used to run north of Las Vegas that tortured racers for years. This year’s race left no doubt in the racer’s minds that the south course could be just as tough. In General Tire Jeepspeed Cup presented by ATX Wheels racing competition it was Bob Mamer who took his second win in a row in his turbocharged Jeep Comanche pickup. “We had a good day,” Said Bob Mamer, “Last year at this race we went hard out of the gate and tore a bunch of stuff up. We made it a point to go easy on the first lap and see where we stood from there. We pulled in to top off at pit B just to make sure we had plenty of fuel because we were not sure how much fuel we would burn. There were so many rocks you could get into trouble fast if you got off the race line. On the second lap, I hit a big rock and got a flat tire. We assumed Skilton was back there and that he would be coming fast but we made it to the line first. It was only his second race but he is catching on real fast, I am really impressed.
