Midsize, full-featured: 2015 Colorado 4WD Z71 Crew Short Box review notes - Autoweek

EDITOR WES RAYNAL : Like the Autoweek Best of the Best-winning GMC Canyon , this is just an honest, what-you-see-is-what-you-get truck. No frills, nothing fancy, just a solid nicely sized truck. By nicely sized I mean it’s easy to drive and makes me wonder why automakers got away from it. I suppose it’s because the F-series, Silverado, Sierra, Ram and their ilk sell like proverbial hot cakes. The Colorado/Canyon is a terrific balance between delivering what you want in a car-like driver with truck utility. There’s the Canyon of course and the Tacoma and what else, the Honda Ridgeline maybe. I imagine similarly sized F-150s and Rams are on the way stat. ASSOCIATE EDITOR GRAHAM KOZAK : For me, this isn’t quite the right Colorado, but it works better for me than the Canyon I last drove. That truck was a stripper with the four cylinder/manual transmission combo and manual-adjust side mirrors. It was fun in a sort of throwback way, but its tow rating was just a bit too low for the sort of hauling I have to do occasionally. Much as I’d like to stick with the inline-four, the six seems a must for anyone who plans on towing. suicide doors make for easy access to the back of the cab, and the rear seats seem all right for.
