Honda predicting record 2015 with improved Acuras, new HR-V, redesigned Pilot - Columbus Business First (blog)

Honda could probably just draft that industry momentum to record sales, but it isn't doing that. Mendel wouldn't disclose an exact projection for 2015, but he did break down how Honda is going to get there and then some. For one, the new Acura TLX alone could carry Honda. Honda is only 10,000 away from its record and will have eight-plus more months of the Marysville-made TLX replacing the now discontinued TL and TSX. While the entry-level luxury sedan isn't getting the full redesign Honda and Acura models receive every five or six years, it is getting a notable upgrade. With a price tag expected to start in the mid $150,000s, it isn't going to make much of a direct impact on the sales totals, though hopes are high for its indirect impact. On the Honda side of the business, the key pieces are continued strong CR-V sales and the introduction of the HR-V subcompact crossover, as well as the launch of a redesigned Pilot. Mendel hinted that there will be car news this year related to both the Marysville-made Accord and the Civic, which are two of Honda's three-biggest sellers alongside the East Liberty-assembled CR-V. In general, he said performance is an area where Honda is. Source: www.bizjournals.com
