Letters from readers - 150722 - Aitkin Independent Age
“The right, conservatives, Christian, religious people need to take notice here, with the influence of the secular-controlled media. The problems facing religious people today does not come from the so-called secular left with all its demeaning connotations, and its use of science, but from the greed and power of both so-called secular left and so-called right religious people. I have many Bibles, each a little different depending on the knowledge of the translator. Yet they all agree that ignorance, greed and power are the real opponents of spiritual people. True spirituality needs teachers, not preachers, and if you can read, read the book. When any individual talks to me about the Bible, I have to ask “Which One. ” There is no one Bible out there folks. Each is a little different and every American Bible is a translation, not the original Hebrew, Aramaic, or Greek. I have read some of my Bibles from cover to cover and I am appalled at the religious ignorance and arrogance of many of its preachers. The Old Testament speaks of an eye for an eye and the New Testament speaks of redemption and freedom from sin. The Bible is a collection of books, not a book, on being human with all our faults and having a just society for all, even gay. To insinuate that the secular people are the problem is not to understand the problem. Source: www.messagemedia.co
