Love at first sight with Z3 Coupe - SFGate
I’ve had so many cars, it’s hard to keep track of them all. From sports cars to work trucks, I’ve had too many to name or remember. That didn’t stop me when I saw a Z3 Coupe on the website of an Orange County BMW dealer three years ago, and I was thrilled to see that the price had come down to one that I could afford and enjoy. He belongs to the BMW Owners Club and the BMW Z3 Coupe registry. My Ride is a 1999 BMW Z3 Coupe with a 2. 8, 193-horsepower inline-six engine and a five-speed manual transmission. My car is the coupe out of 883 cars made in the first production year for this 80th model. I saw my first Z3 Coupe at the historic car races in Monterey in 1998. My friend and I had an art booth at the races that year. I took a break from the booth to take a walk, and that’s when I saw my first BMW Z3 Coupe. I was drawn to the Z3 Coupe because it had a shooting brake look to it, almost like a sporty two-seater station wagon, and it had such graceful lines that it spoke to the sculptor in me.
