In the countdown to the July 31 non-waiver trading deadline, MLB general managers are beginning to make their moves. When the Cardinals acquired RH reliever Steve Cishek from the Miami Marlins on Friday, the earth under Busch Stadium remained still. GM John Mozeliak's maneuver was pragmatic, sensible and on point. Cishek fits the recent Mozeliak pattern. In 2012 his deadline pull brought in RH setup reliever Edward Mujica from Miami. A year later, Mozeliak called Milwaukee and filed adoption papers on displaced Brewers closer John Axford. And both trades turned out very well for the Cardinals. Mujica helped restore a thinning bullpen in '12, pitching to a 1. 03 ERA in 29 appearances, then working relief in nine postseason games.
