General Motors Recalls 2014-2015 Chevy Impala Over Airbag Sensor Issue - Dispatch Times

General Motors is recalling 8,989 Impalas for passenger-side airbags that can fail to turn off if an infant seat is in the front seat. The sensors fitted in these vehicles seems to be defected, thus the system is not aware of an infant located in the front seat as a result the airbag doesn’t trigger automatically during impact. Previously, GM recalled around 331,000 pickups in the US, including Heavy Duty versions of the 2007 and 2008 GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado. GM conducted extensive research over the following months to determine if two warranty complaints were isolated incidents, including surveying owners of company owned vehicles and collecting OnStar data. Furthermore, the recall only affects vehicles that came equipped with front vented-heated passenger seats. Source: www.dispatchtimes.com
